When creating teleseminars and other online training programs, follow these 7 simple steps:
- Welcome – Get your participants’ attention with a catchy phrase, compelling story or startling statistic.
- Agenda – Tell participants where they are going. Adult learners want to know what’s ahead.
- Intro Activity – Warm up participants by asking them a question about the topic at hand, have them take a quick assessment, or ponder a thought.
- Present and Practice – The bulk of the teleseminar is where the content is delivered. Give them the information and let them play with it; make it relevant and lock in it with interaction. Use questions and role plays, have them draw something, or have them fill in charts or graphs.
- Knowledge and Application – Ask participants to share how they are going to apply what they have learned to their own lives.
- Next steps – Assign homework, give a graduation certificate, make an offer.
- End of Training – Save one more bit of valuable information for the end, and deliver it after you make your offer. Remind participants of next steps. For example, discuss how you will follow up on homework, explain how they can take advantage of your offer, how they can get in touch with you, and tell them about other upcoming sessions.
